Description
Viking hood from Skjoldehamn (Skjoldehamn / Norway 11th century):
Design of Skjoldehamn Padded Combat Hood is inspired by an archaeological find from the 10th to 12th century. In 1936, a fully clothed bog body was discovered on a farm in Skjoldehamn, Norway. The hood found with it is notable for its pointed hem and a square piece inset on the chest. The outfit includes two tunics, pant, a braided belt, and a hood, which resemble the colorful and warm clothing of the Samí people, especially the braids and necklines of the tunics and the braid at the ankle of the pants. While many sources confirm trade between the Norse and Samí, chaperones are often seen in Norse models. The Skjoldehamn chaperones are a great choice for Norwegian re-enactors.
